Vanguard Investments – Scam Misusing the Vanguard Name

A Vanguard Investments clone, imitating the name and appearance of a world-renowned asset management brand, reaches investors through domain names such as vg-investments.com and vanguardinvestmentsuk.com. This scheme is an unsupervised operation that has no official connection with the long-established institution it imitates.
🎭 The Identity of an Established Brand Is Being Stolen
In clone fraud, the website of a well-known firm is copied almost exactly; small additions or abbreviations are made to the domain name (for example the "vg-" prefix), so that it differs from the real site by only a small detail. The victim believes they are dealing with a trusted, globally known brand. In reality, the money is transferred to an entirely different and unauthorised operation.
📌 The Situation in Türkiye
The fact that the real firm being imitated holds a licence abroad does not make this clone legitimate. The real Vanguard has no connection with this scheme; its name is being misused. The Vanguard Investments clone is not authorised in Türkiye by the Capital Markets Board (SPK). The real authorisation of an institution can always be verified from the SPK list of intermediary institutions.
🛡️ Protection Against Clones
- The domain names of official brands are checked letter by letter; prefixes such as "vg-" and extra words are a warning sign.
- The contact details given by the person who approaches an investor are compared with the details in the brand's official records.
- Before trusting a well-known brand, it is verified whether the contact is genuinely dealing on behalf of that brand.
