Algebris Capital – Scam Misusing the Algebris Investments Name

The platform operating under the name "Algebris Capital" at algebriscapital.com is a clone site copying the identity of Algebris Investments, a long-established London-based asset management firm. The real company has no connection with this site. The clone scheme is not authorised in Türkiye by the Capital Markets Board (SPK) and has no lawful activity in Türkiye.

🚨 How Does the Clone Scheme Work?

The fraudsters build a fake site by copying the name, registration number and corporate look of a genuine, regulated company in the UK; by phone and email they introduce themselves to the people they reach as representatives of that company. The UK regulator, the FCA, has published an unauthorised-firm warning about clone entities using the Algebris name. As clone sites are shut down, they reopen under new domain names with small differences, such as algebris-investment.com and algebriscapital.com; the real company's address is only algebris.com.

🔍 How Can the Fake Be Told from the Real?

• Domain name: Any variation in which words have been added to, or changed in, the real institution's domain name (additions such as capital or investment) is suspicious.
• Way of contact: Genuine asset management firms do not phone individual investors to market a forex account; this is the basic method of the clone scheme.
• Mixed details: The fraudsters blend the real company's registration details with their own fake phone numbers and email addresses; the fact that some of the details can be verified does not mean the site is genuine.

📉 The Position in Türkiye

Even though the imitated company is regulated in the UK, this gives no safeguard to a Turkish investor; the only lawful route to offering leveraged trading services to persons resident in Türkiye is an SPK permit. The authority of the institution on the other side can be confirmed from SPK's list of intermediary institutions before any account is opened. Balances in accounts opened through this clone are held in a closed panel belonging to the firm, and the profits shown have no real counterpart.
