BietfinexOption – Scam Misusing the Bitfinex Name

BietfinexOption is an "options trading" brand made by adding a single letter to the name of the long-established crypto exchange Bitfinex. The similarity of the names was chosen to give users the impression that they are trading on a well-known exchange.

In short: BietfinexOption is not authorised in Türkiye by the Capital Markets Board (SPK) and has no connection with the real Bitfinex; its name is being misused. Showing profit on a short-term options screen while blocking withdrawals is the common method of schemes of this kind. Legal remedies are available in such cases.

🔍 How Is the Bitfinex Name Being Used?

The spelling "Bietfinex" is a letter trick that a user reading the address quickly will not notice. As of 17 October 2026, the domain names bietfinex.com and bietfinexoption.com are not registered; schemes of this kind change their addresses often to avoid detection and share the link only through chat. In Canada, the Ontario Securities Commission has also issued an investor warning about a separate website that used the Bitfinex name with the addition "fx trade option".

The real Bitfinex is a crypto exchange operating under iFinex Inc.; it has nothing to do with the options panel described in this article.

🚩 The Options Screen Trap

In schemes of this kind, the user is brought onto the panel through an "investment group" or a personal acquaintance. On a screen based on predicting within minutes whether a price will rise or fall, the first trades appear profitable; as the balance grows, new deposits are requested. When a withdrawal is requested, reasons such as tax, a leverage debt or an account verification fee appear.

⚖️ SPK Authorisation and the Criminal Law Dimension

In Türkiye, crypto asset services and intermediation in derivative instruments require SPK permission; the currently authorised institutions can be checked in the SPK list. Collecting money over the internet by using the name of a known institution is treated as qualified fraud through information systems under Article 158/1-f of the Turkish Penal Code. Before investing, check whether a platform is authorised by the regulator in your own country (for example the FCA, ASIC or SEC).

🧭 The Process From the Victim's Side

For funds that have left the country, the routes through which a refund may be possible and the aggravating circumstances that increase the penalty for qualified fraudTR are the two main pillars of a case.
