Marin Investment Forex Scam and the Fake Loss Insurance

A representative calling in the name of Marin Investment shows a "licence document" over the phone and has a forex account opened; when the first investment melts away, a second round is requested. When the losses grow, a second "investment adviser" steps in and says the only way to win the money back is to deposit again.
🚩 A Two-Stage Scheme: The Representative and the "Rescuer" Adviser
In the first stage, documents with a corporate look are sent to the person reached by cold calling, an account is opened and two investments are made one after the other. In the second stage the client is handed over to another name; this person repeats that the firm is "licensed" and makes compensation for the loss conditional on further steps.
- A condition that fifty per cent of the lost amount be deposited again
- Tying the return to a trading volume of "3 lots", a variant of the method of locking withdrawals with lot and volume conditionsTR
- Presenting the promise in writing as a PDF "insurance contract"
- Both representatives stop answering on WhatsApp once the money is paid in
- Calling back after a public complaint is posted, saying "we will sort it out", and asking for the complaint to be removed
🔍 Names and Contact Channel Identified
The representatives who speak with victims introduce themselves as "Mr Özgür" (the person who first called and had the account opened) and "Mr Aslan" (the "investment adviser" who gives the promise of a return). Contact is carried out by telephone and WhatsApp; since the end of October 2025 withdrawal requests have gone unanswered. No verifiable company name or address is provided for the firm.
⚖️ SPK Authorisation and the Legal Position
Marin Investment does not appear on the SPK list of authorised intermediary institutions; it is not authorised by the SPK. SPK Decision No. 8/297 of 24.02.2017 describes bringing investors in Türkiye together with overseas firms offering leveraged trading as unauthorised activity; taking a second payment under the name of "insurance" is assessed as qualified fraud through computer systems under Article 158/1-f of the Turkish Penal Code.
🔗 Other Platforms Using the Same Method
The pattern of gaining trust by telephone and tying withdrawals to a lot condition is not unique to Marin Investment. We have previously covered other schemes that follow the same steps.
- Winex Markets: a WhatsApp adviser and lot conditions imposed one after anotherTR
- Ornex Capital: a MetaTrader 5 screen and withdrawals tied to a lot conditionTR
- Alchemay Limited: fake adviser profiles that build a personal relationshipTR
- UFX: forex referrals run through cold-calling centresTR
🧭 The Legal Process for Victims
- The make-up of the calling staff and their division of roles is set out: the organisation of a fake investment call centreTR.
- A criminal investigation is opened: the criminal complaint process in forex fraud.
- The route to restitution is pursued through the accounts to which the money was transferred: restitution and unjust enrichment claimsTR.
