How to Tell if a Crypto Exchange Is SPK-Licensed in Türkiye

The most basic safety step for a crypto investor is to verify whether the platform they trade on is authorised in Türkiye. This article covers, for information purposes, how an exchange licensed by the Capital Markets Board (SPK) can be recognised.
🏛️ The Only Test: SPK Authorisation
In Türkiye, crypto trading services can be offered only by crypto asset service providers (KVHS) authorised by SPK. That a platform is large or well known does not mean it is authorised in Türkiye; what decides is the licence record.
📋 Features of a Licensed Platform
Authorised platforms are subject to obligations such as a minimum capital level, information security standards, independent audit and the segregation of customer assets. These arrangements aim to protect the investor's assets.
🔎 How Is It Verified?
- The platform's SPK authorisation and listing status is checked in official sources.
- Whether it carries out customer identification (KYC) under the rules of the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) is looked at.
- The transparency of company details, contact information and audit is assessed.
In short: What decides is SPK authorisation. Licensed platforms are subject to obligations on capital, security, audit and segregation of customer assets.
