Sydney FX Scam Warning: Romance Forex Fraud Flagged by FCA, ASIC, AFM

Sydney FX: A Systematic Scam Platform Warned About Internationally
Sydney FX is a systematic investment scam platform officially warned about by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). It is a sophisticated scheme that targets victims through romance and prepares them with fake profit displays.
Licence Information
Platform name: Sydney FX
Claimed licence: It is claimed to be backed by "Unlimited LTD".
Actual situation: Sydney FX is not legally licensed by any financial authority. The reference to "Unlimited LTD" is an improper use of the name of a legitimate UK company that provides media services. Unlimited LTD has no connection with this scheme; its name is being misused.
Sydney FX is not authorised in Türkiye by the Capital Markets Board (SPK).
FCA (United Kingdom): Officially warned about Sydney FX in April 2025 and informed its customers not to trade with the platform.
ASIC (Australia): Confirmed that the platform is "not authorised by an authorised licence holder".
AFM (Netherlands): Blacklisted Sydney FX and described the platform as an unlicensed financial service provider.
How the Scam Works
Targeting Victims Through Romance
Sydney FX operators target victims by creating fake profiles on dating platforms such as Tinder, Bumble and Instagram. The operators win the victim's trust through a long romantic relationship and then present an "investment opportunity".
Fake Profit Displays
After the victim pays money into the platform account, artificially generated charts and profit notifications are shown. These displays are entirely made-up, pre-planned fake data. The victim believes that significant profits have built up in the account.
Withdrawal Blocking and Extra Fee Demands
When the victim wants to withdraw the profits believed to have built up, the withdrawals are blocked by the system or by "managers". Victims are then pushed into extra payments under these excuses:
- Fraudulent fees (between 10% and 20%)
- A tax payment obligation
- Account "verification" fees
- Legal process fees
Account Closure and Cut-Off of Communication
When the victim refuses extra payments or decides to start an investigation, the account is closed without any warning and all communication channels are cut straight afterwards.

Protection Notes
What Are the Signs of a Scam?
- Investment offers from dating platforms: An investment offer from someone met on dating apps such as Tinder, Bumble or Instagram is a major warning sign.
- Fake profit displays: No legitimate investment platform promises monthly profits of 50% or more without conditions.
- Withdrawal blocks: If the system creates obstacles when the accumulated profit is to be withdrawn, it means the funds were never really the user's.
- Extra fee demands: If more money is requested under the name of tax, verification or legal fees, this is a systematic scam.
Features of Legitimate Investment Platforms
- They are registered on the list of intermediary institutions of the Capital Markets Board of Türkiye (SPK)
- They hold legal licences from official authorities such as the FCA, CySEC or ASIC
- They do not put obstacles in the way of withdrawals or ask for extra fees
- Their transaction records are fully transparent
- They are supervised by regulators, and complaints are recorded
Why Is There a Risk That Sydney FX Changes Its Name?
After international warnings are published, the risk that Sydney FX operators set up new platforms under similar names is very high. For example, they can continue their operations with related domain names such as SydneyFX Pro, Sydney Trading or FX Sydney. For any new investment platform, the official SPK list of intermediary institutions is the place where authorisation can be checked.
I lost money with Sydney FX. What should I do?
