Long-Term Residence Permit in Türkiye: Conditions and Rights

A long-term residence permit is provided for foreigners who have stayed lawfully and without interruption in Türkiye for a long period. The permit is important because it is indefinite and because of the rights it provides. This article explains the long-term residence permit for information purposes.
🏠 What Is a Long-Term Residence Permit?
A long-term residence permit is an indefinite permit that may be granted to foreigners who have stayed in Türkiye lawfully and without interruption for the period set by law. In this respect it differs from fixed-term permits such as the short-term permit and the family residence permit. The permit gives the foreigner a more stable legal status. All of the conditions must be met.
Note: The long-term residence permit is indefinite; all of the conditions must be met together.
📋 Conditions
In the application, conditions such as a set period of uninterrupted residence, not having received social assistance in recent years, sufficient and regular income, health insurance, and the absence of any public order obstacle are assessed. All of these conditions must be met together. Different rules may apply to those under international protection status.
⚖️ Rights It Provides
Holders of a long-term residence permit may, apart from certain exceptions, benefit broadly from the rights granted to Turkish citizens. The permit can also form a stable basis for people considering a later citizenship application. The cases that require cancellation of the permit are regulated separately. Each application is assessed on its own conditions.
