Fxwallet Crypto Wallet Scam: How the Balance Is Lost

Fxwallet appears in Turkish-language reports as the name of a wallet into which users, after trust is built on WhatsApp or social media, are asked to load crypto. The user is told that the USDT/USDC loaded is to be moved from inside the wallet into an "investment product"; after this step the balance is out of the user's control.

In short: The investment scheme presented under the Fxwallet name is not authorised in Türkiye by the Capital Markets Board (SPK). The method is that the crypto loaded into the wallet is transferred to a product or address pointed out by the fraudster. Tracing the transferred assets and claiming them back is legally possible.

👛 The Wallet App Versus the Scheme

There is an app named Fxwallet that presents itself as a multi-chain, self-custody crypto wallet (fxwallet.com); this article deals with the scheme in which the wallet name is used by fraudsters as a means of steering victims. The forex brand Wallet FX, whose name is similar, is a separate operation with no connection to this scheme.

🚩 The Steps Through Which the Balance Is Lost

  • Correspondence that starts with a foreign "friend" or the buyer of a listing
  • Instructions to set up the wallet and load crypto into it
  • The balance is moved to another address under the name of a "cold wallet" or a "gold product"
  • At withdrawal, a new deposit is demanded on grounds such as an "activity record" or "Withdrawal is blocked"

🔗 Other Platforms Using the Same Method

We have examined before the scheme in which the balance is taken over through a wallet app.

🧭 The Legal Framework

This scheme is treated as qualified fraud committed through computer systems under Article 158/1-f of the Turkish Penal Code; SPK Board Decision No. 5/173 of 3 February 2017 covers unauthorised investment steering through social media.
