Marilla Capital ICAV Clone Site Scam (marillacapitalicav.com)

The Central Bank of Ireland has issued a clone warning for the website marillacapitalicav.com, which uses the name of Marilla Capital ICAV, a genuine Irish investment fund vehicle. The site reached people looking for fund or bond investments under the identity of the real fund.

🚩 How Is the ICAV Title Copied?

An ICAV is a fund vehicle specific to Ireland, and its register entries are public. In clones of this kind, fraudsters display the real fund's registration number and manager on the site; they then ask for payment with an offer of a "fixed-income bond tranche" or a "limited-participation fund share". The payment account, however, is opened in a country unrelated to the fund. In its Decision No. 5/173 of 03.02.2017, SPK issued a warning against unauthorised investment solicitation through social media and the internet.
