FX Institution Scam: Fake Insurance and Loss Recovery Offers

FX Institution is a scheme that presents itself to people who have lost money on forex platforms as an "insurance" body that follows up "trading provider refunds". It targets the victim a second time after the first platform; with the promise of bringing the lost money back, it collects new payments under the names of case fees, tax and transfer charges.
🚩 How Does FX Institution Work?
As the number of fraudulent operations in the forex market grows, their methods become more complicated. Rather than looking for new investors, FX Institution targets people who have previously lost money on another forex platform. Contact is often started directly by FX Institution, even though the victim never applied.
The scheme runs as follows:
- First contact: The caller knows which platform the victim previously lost money on. Victim reports say that people who suffered losses through Wolf MarketsTR, for example, were called in this way. This shows that data is shared between fraud networks.
- "Insurance company" identity: FX Institution presents itself as an insurance body or as an intermediary that "follows up trading provider refunds" for people harmed by forex companies.
- Promise of a refund: The victim is told that the lost money will be paid back as a provider refund or under insurance cover. For this, the victim is first asked to make a series of payments.
- Endless demands: A new item is produced after every payment. When the victim stops paying, contact is cut and the victim is blocked.
The most dangerous aspect of this scheme is that it exploits the loss and hope the victim already carries. Offers of "fund recovery" that arrive after the first fraud are the start of a second fraud.
💸 What Excuses Are Used to Ask for Payment?
Victim reports show that FX Institution asks for payment for the following items before a refund:
- Case fee: An advance payment for "opening" the refund case.
- Tax: Tax said to be payable on the amount to be refunded.
- SWIFT fee: A transfer charge, with the claim that the money will be sent from abroad.
- Insurance fee: A payment to "secure the refund".
- Provider refund fee: A charge for the release of the refund by the trading provider.
Payments are requested not to a corporate account but by EFT to bank accounts belonging to individuals. After payment, the victim is given no official document, account verification or corporate correspondence. This pattern is typical of fund recovery scamsTR: in a genuine refund process the victim is not asked for upfront tax or transfer fees.

⚖️ SPK Authorisation and Legal Basis

Collecting money through computer systems and banks while posing as an insurance body is treated under the qualified fraud provisions of Article 158 of the Turkish Penal Code.
🔗 Other Schemes Using the Same Method
"Fund recovery" schemes that target forex victims a second time are not limited to a single name. We have covered the other schemes where the same story was seen:
- Crypto fund recovery fraud run in the name of Aviva InsuranceTR
- SafeChainVault: a scheme collecting payments with recovery promises
- M2Recoveries and Reverse Funds fund recovery fraudTR
- Adalet-hukuk.org: fraud under the name of loss recoveryTR
🧭 The Legal Process for Victims
In two-stage losses, the payments made both to the first platform and to FX Institution are dealt with together:
- Messages, call records and EFT receipts are collected as evidence; the individual accounts to which payments were made form the basis of the criminal complaint process.
- The flow of money and the account holders are traced through an asset investigationTR.
- Once the conditions are met, a precautionary attachment (freezing order)TR on the accounts and refund claims come into play; for the general framework, see our article on the path forex victims follow.
