Intaforensics Impersonation: Crypto Fund Recovery Scam Warning

Teams that approach people who earlier lost money on a crypto or investment platform with the line "we found your loss" are now using the name of the British digital forensics firm IntaForensics. New Zealand's financial markets authority, the FMA, published a warning in October 2026 about this operation, which impersonates Intaforensics.
🚩 What Is Asked for Once Lost Money Is "Found"?
According to the FMA's description, the caller says the victim's earlier loss has been traced and recovered; to appear credible, crypto wallets said to be holding the money are shown. These wallets are controlled by the scammers. Before any payout, the following items are put forward:
- A fee under the name of "tax"
- A transaction and transfer fee
- A payment to prove wallet ownership
Each payment is followed by a new demand, and the promised refund never happens. This sequence is the typical pattern of the recovery scheme that targets investment victims a second timeTR.
⚖️ The Real IntaForensics and the Imitation Compared
The real IntaForensics Ltd is a UK-based digital forensics company that uses the domain intaforensics.com; it has no legal entity in Türkiye. The FMA has not published a domain or phone number used by the imitators; the name may be used by email, messaging apps or different websites. The operation that takes payments under a recovery promise is not authorised by the SPK (see the list of SPK-authorised brokerage firms); acts of this kind, committed through information systems and banking tools, are treated as qualified fraud under Article 158/1-f of the Turkish Penal Code.
