SelfTradeInv Scam Warning: Pig-Butchering Platform

⚠️ LICENCE AND LEGAL STATUS

SelfTradeInv is not licensed by any financial regulator. The platform is a fraud tool that has been the subject of a warning by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). It is the main tool of investment fraud known as "pig-butchering" (Turkish: "domuz kasabı"), which is carried out through romance and friendship deception.

SelfTradeInv is not authorised in Türkiye by the Capital Markets Board (SPK). In Türkiye, institutions that trade forex and derivative products must be licensed by the Capital Markets Board (SPK). The list of licensed intermediary institutions is published on the SPK activity permits page.

Scam Methods and Warning Signs

🚨 FEATURES THAT CARRY A RISK OF FRAUD

Recognising the "Pig-Butchering" Scam

The SelfTradeInv platform is mostly used as follows:

  • Fraudsters contact potential victims from social media, messaging apps or dating sites with a fake identity.
  • A romantic or strong friendship bond is built with the victim.
  • The SelfTradeInv platform is then presented as an "investment opportunity".
  • The victim starts depositing money on this "platform".

Small Withdrawals Allowed at First

In the first stage of the scam, victims can withdraw small amounts. This is to show that the platform is "real" and to build trust.

A Fake Platform Dashboard

The profit and balance figures shown in the platform account are arranged entirely under the control of the fraudsters. No real market transaction takes place.

Extra Fee Demands for Larger Withdrawals

When the victim wants to withdraw a larger amount, pretexts such as extra fees, "tax payments" or "system maintenance fees" appear. These extra payments achieve nothing either.

The Account Blocking and Restriction Cycle

As the victim's suspicion grows, the account is restricted or blocked. More money is demanded to reopen it.

Anonymous Operation and Untraceability

Because the platform has no clear headquarters and the identities of the real people are hidden, it can easily be closed and reopened under other names.

Methods of Detection

🔍 MEASURES THAT HELP AGAINST FRAUD

Scepticism towards social media relationships: If someone newly met online offers an "investment opportunity" very quickly, it is almost always fraud.

Attention to fast-moving relationships: If romantic relationships or "friendships" develop very quickly and money deposits begin, these are signs of fraud.

The platform's address: The London address given by SelfTradeInv is not an address where a real commercial business is registered.

Telephone contact: A financial service provider with no telephone number at all, or one that offers contact by email only, is a serious danger sign.

SPK licence: Financial platforms should always be checked with the SPK or with international regulators.

Money that cannot be withdrawn: Where an account is blocked or money cannot be withdrawn, the competent authorities and Savun Law & Consultancy are the places the matter is brought to.

  • Checking financial sites: Any platform can be checked with regulators such as the SPK or the FCA.
  • Double-checking bank transfers: Before money is sent, the recipient details are verified carefully.
