Trading.com Scam Warning: Impersonators Using the Name

Trading.com is an overseas-based brokerage brand that announces trading in currency pairs and CFD products. For investors in Türkiye who are referred under this name, the main risk is less the brand itself than the intermediaries who use its name and collect money through a Turkish-speaking "account specialist" team.

In short: Trading.com is not authorised in Türkiye by the Capital Markets Board (SPK) to provide investment services. In leveraged trading offers run under this name, money is sent to overseas accounts. Legal routes exist for seeking the return of money in cases of this kind.

🔍 What Has Been Established About Trading.com

The trading.com domain was registered in 1994, and the brand states that it holds regulatory permissions in countries such as the United Kingdom and Australia. This foreign licence is not valid for investment services in Türkiye; the brand does not appear on the SPK list of authorised intermediary institutions. The name was seen among the entries tracked in international broker catalogues in March 2026.

🚩 The Scheme Seen in Offers Made Under This Name

In operations that put a well-known domain name in front, the following steps are generally seen:

  • A social media advert or a phone invitation to trade "with an expert"
  • A panel that looks like the real site and a personal account manager
  • A demand for a commission, tax or deposit for withdrawal once profits appear

SPK Decision No. 8/297 of 24 February 2017 characterises activities that bring investors in Türkiye together with overseas leveraged trading firms as unauthorised activity.

🔗 Other Platforms Using the Same Method

Offers hiding behind the name of a foreign brand are not new. We have previously examined similar cases:

🧭 How Does the Legal Process Proceed?

  1. The accounts the money went to are identified; for international transfers, a SWIFT transfer recall may come into play.
  2. A criminal investigation process is started.
  3. For the overseas counterparty, routes to a refund are assessed.

No. Only SPK authorisation is valid for leveraged trading intermediation in Türkiye; Trading.com does not appear on this list.

Is the Trading.com representative who called me in Turkish genuine?

Intermediaries who use the brand's name are frequently seen. In practice, the first step is to check the institution the caller belongs to against the SPK list.

A separate demand for tax or a deposit before a withdrawal is one of the most common signs in schemes of this kind.
