Fake Crypto.com App Scam: Withdrawals Blocked by a Tax Demand

An app that carries the name and look of a well-known crypto exchange can give the impression that a user's money is being managed safely. In a report recorded in September 2026, a fake app imitating Crypto.com was said to ask users for a payment described as "tax". This app has no connection with the real Crypto.com.
📱 How Does the Imitation App Work?
In schemes of this kind, the user sends USDT to an app downloaded from outside the official store or opened through a link, and the balance on the screen grows quickly. Because the logo and colours resemble the real exchange, the user believes the money sits in a Crypto.com account. The logic of cloned institution and exchange websites appears here in the form of an app.
🧾 What the "Tax" Demand Means
When a withdrawal is requested, a tax is demanded first and then, in most cases, a new fee; each payment is met with another obstacle. Acts of this kind, carried out through a computer system and the identity of a well-known institution, are treated as qualified fraud under Article 158/1-f of the Turkish Penal CodeTR. Authorised institutions in Türkiye can be looked up in the SPK lists.

- Startrader Invest: payment under the excuse of "income tax"TR

- TimeeCoin: an exchange account with a locked withdrawalTR
🧭 Stages of the Legal Process
In these cases the process begins with establishing the facts of being unable to withdraw money from a fake crypto exchangeTR; the investigation then moves towards the indictment stageTR. For assets reached by the transfers, the institutions of seizure and confiscationTR come into play. For detailed information and legal support, you can contact Savun Law & Consultancy.
